Top Beauty & Make-Up Trends for 2022

New year, new you. It goes without saying, doesn’t it? If you’re searching for a little inspiration on how to refresh your look, then scroll no further. We’ve rounded up the hottest beauty trends for 2022 that you should know about. As well as,  products recommendations and top tips from our beauty therapists to help you nail your beauty routine in 2022:

1. Less products, more purpose

We’ve seen the importance of leading a more sustainable lifestyle in 2021 and our beauty regimes are no stranger to this. Multi-use make-up products is our favourite hack for  2022. Gone are the days of lugging bags of make-up around. Minimalism is the new maximalism. Lipstick that doubles as blusher or bronzer that can be swept across your eyelids. If we can fit a full make-up kit into our clutch bag, then we’re sold!

2. Accentuate your natural beauty

Neatly following on from the pared back make-up regime, natural beauty is a big trend for 2022. We’re swapping heavy smokey eyes for a healthy, sun-kissed glow; and a statement lip for a moisturising tinted balm. For some advice on how to achieve the desirable ‘no make-up make-up’ look, find Secret Spa’s make-up artist, Annie-Mae D.’s top tips here.

3. Acrylic no more

Nail technicians can work wonders with gel polish! There’s no need to damage your nails in order to have a lovely, long mani. Thanks to the power of builder gel, nail techs can easily build a natural-looking nail without using heavy adhesives and acrylics. Finish the look with your desired nail design. 4. Flash of colour

With the talk of toned down make-up looks, we’re craving a little fun. We’re allowed to be adventurous with our make-up sometimes, right? For special occasions next year, we’ll be digging out the daring lipsticks and wild eyeshadows. We might even add some glitter for good measure! We love this vibrant, coral pink lipstick from Nars. Or why not experiment with the teal pigments in this unique eyeshadow palette from Huda Beauty.

5. The return of perfume

Experts are predicting that we’ll be rekindling our love of perfume next year. There’s never been a better time to find your signature scent than during the new year period. Still hooked on products with multiple uses? Neom have mastered the art of taking care of our wellbeing whilst smelling fabulous with their natural fragrances. The discovery collection contains three mini perfumes; the perfect size to pop into your handbag for on-the-go spritzing.

6. Bobs are back

Bobs are surprisingly versatile. We love that they allow you to easily change your daily look. We spoke to Secret Spa hairdresser Megi H. about how to style this classic cut:

Perfect straight bob:
“Always blow-dry straight by holding the hair dryer above the hair and brushing downwards. Don’t worry about trying to create volume on the roots. Finish with straighteners going from the roots to the ends in thin sections.”

Beachy waves:
“Start by rough drying the hair. Then create some flat loose waves using tongs or straighteners. Always brush through to create soft beach waves and fix with a light hairspray to define the wave.”

Tight curls:
“This fashionable bob reminds me of the 80s! Start by washing the hair and drying with a diffuser. It’s very important not to completely dry the hair. Around 80% is enough and focus on the roots as the ends dry naturally. Never dry your hair upside down! Finish with a product for curls, just like Fudge Curl Revolution Spray.”

7. Conscious beauty

It’s so encouraging to see brands making conscious choices. Vegan collections are being introduced across the beauty industry and it’s now easier than ever for us to make more ethical beauty purchases.
Spectrum Collections are proudly cruelty-free whilst producing the high quality make-up brushes,make-up and accessories. Their brush sets are so Instagrammable and we’re huge fans!

One of our skincare favourites at Secret Spa HQ, Algenist, have launched a Vegan Active Collection. From lip treatments to sleeping cream, all of the products in this range use a plant-based alternative to animal-derived collagen. The products are designed to plump the skin, restore hydration and give you the ultimate glow.

8. Copper club

A/W 2021 saw the beginning of the copper hair trend. Sported by the likes of Gigi Hadid during her return to the runway for Versace, golden ginger locks will be making a comeback next year too. The shade complements every skin tone and it’s perfect if you’re really committing to ‘new year, new you’.

It’s easy to show your colourist photos of the desired copper colour, but prolonging the colour and hair health is key. Secret Spa hairdresser, Atanas G., offers his advice :

“I would say Olaplex is key when coloring hair. It should be added to prevent hair bond disruptions, so the hair will feel silkier after. Another tip would be to change shampoo and conditioner to colour-boosting or colour-safe ones. This will keep the color vibrant for longer. Use a hair mask once a week and always condition after – a mask does not replace conditioner!”

9. Natural ingredients

With so many consumers increasingly aware of products they are putting both into and onto their bodies, beauty brands are following suit with their focus on natural ingredients. OSKIA is one of our office’s go-to brands. Using naturally-derived ingredients or their bio-identical counterparts, OSKIA creates gentle skincare products that pack a punch. Our favourite is the Renaissance Brightlight serum which works wonders if your skin is feeling a little dull.

Or get your glow back by booking in for an OSKIA facial with a Secret Spa beauty therapist in the comfort of your own home.
